These details about Charlie Puth and Brooke Sansone’s first few weeks as newlyweds may surprise you.
Why? Well, after the 32-year-old singer confirmed his recent nuptials by flashing his wedding ring on the Oct. 7 episode of Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen, he revealed they had to spend time apart after saying “I do.”
“Right when the honeymoon was over, you went to New Jersey and I went to work in Brazil,” Charlie shared as Brooke sat in the audience, “so we didn’t see each other for a week, which is a bit unusual, but we’re here now at Watch What Happens.”
It was also clear that the “One Call Away” singer was not a groomzilla considering the fact that he doesn’t seem to have been involved in any of the wedding plans.
“You did it all,” he said to Brooke. “I was reading the Vogue article, like, ‘Oh my god, this unbelievable.’”
As for some of the details, the ceremony took place at Charlie’s parents’ home in Montecito, California, specifically in their driveway under an olive tree, and had a guest list of about 130. The couple’s first dance song was to Bruce Springsteen’s “Jersey Girl,” which had a special meaning to the childhood friends, who grew up together in New Jersey.
As for his vows, Charlie recently told People he’d written his own saying, “I had practiced it so many times, and I was reading it with such confidence. I thought I sounded like Barack Obama reading a speech. And I got up there and I was trembling and crying, but I was just so happy. I think my happiness overtook me.”
Shortly after tying the knot, Charlie took to Instagram to gush over his bride, seemingly sharing his vows, “I love you Brooke…I always have, with you I am my very best. I promise I’ll love you everyday in this life, and even more when we move on to our next. Brooke Ashley Sansone, And now you’ll be Brooke Ashley Puth. Thank you for making me the happiest man alive. It has always been you.”
During WWHL, two callers had some fun with Charlie, asking if he ever listened to his own music in the bedroom.
Host Cohen turned to face the crowd, pointing out, “His wife is here, she’s nodding her head no.”
“No, not now, but it’s happened before,” Charlie confirmed before joking, “I actually don’t even know if Brookie even likes my music.”
But Charlie’s new bride objected, insisting, “I do, of course!”
