In the Episode 3 of the CBS reality competition series "The Summit," it's brains versus brawns and the strategists are winning.
The new series follows a group of strangers who must work together to climb a mountain in the Southern Alps of New Zealand. Throughout their journey contestants carry a $1 million cash prize evenly distributed among themselves in backpacks as they reach several checkpoint camps. The price goes down with each elimination unless a player is voted out.
At the camps, they must vote each other out. Along the way, they have to overcome obstacles and are forced to make difficult decisions presented by what's called "The Mountain Keeper." If the entire group of remaining contestants fails to reach the summit in 14 days, they all go home empty handed.
In Wednesday's episode, two players were singled out as the weakest links, however the elimination vote was between two of the strongest. By the end of the episode, there are only 11 hikers left, and prize pot is at $870,560. Here's what to know.
What was the Mountain's Keeper's dilemma?
As the group navigates harsh terrain with steeper inclines, thee Mountain's Keeper helicopter flies above, drops a note to the ground and offers a choice. After informing the team their current pace is too slow, the producers offers to airlift two of the slowest members. But naturally, there's a cost: the group will not eat that day.

South Carolina bank manager Amy Stephens, 46, addresses concerns that the two who are selected will be targeted for the next vote. She is then convinced that by accepting the offer alongside Southern California barber Pati Arana, 37, the two will be well rested for the next day.
The majority votes to let the pair skip the day's journey with the exception of Georgia neuroscientist Geoff Green, 28, and Columbus Air Force member Punkin Jackson, 33, who really wanted to eat afterwards.
Amy and Pati are flown over the trail to where the group eventually spend the night in bivy sleeping sacks. The pair decided to start a fire and set up a camp for when the "hangry" group return from another jarring hike with empty stomachs.
What was this week's obstacle?
The team had to make their way up an extremely tall ladder that swayed with the wind.
"I hate ladders and this was biggest ladder I've ever seen," 56-year-old New York grocery store worker Jeannie Geyer said.
Amy and Pati opted to go first in an attempt to prove their worth after hitching a helicopter ride the day prior. The ladder becomes extra daunting for players with fears of heights.
Louisiana sales executive Nick Morgan finds himself the last person to go up and is given a scare by the Mountain's Keeper, which hovers over. Yet, he still manages to make his way to the top without anyone chopping the obstacle down like last week's episode.
Who was voted out of 'The Summit'?
Georgia neuroscientist Geoff Green, 28, was the third person voted out of "The Summit," and the overall fifth contestant eliminated.
Upon reaching the group's checkpoint camp, players quickly scramble to decide who to vote out. Indianapolis trauma nurse Dennis Cho, 29, continues to spread Geoff's name, arguing that he too huge of a physical threat. Aware that Dennis has been gunning for him, Geoff tries his best to turn the tides on Dennis.
However, it's 27-year-old San Diego construction worker Beckylee Rawls who persuades the group to vote Geoff after successfully orchestrating the vote last episode. During her confessionals, she explained that it's crucial to vote out some of the "macho men" as soon as possible.
In an 8-3 vote, the group voted Geoff out and took the money he was carrying. Only his loyal allies Amy and Punkin voted for Dennis.
"Why is it necessary to get physical threats out especially so early in the game, and you getting rid of me doesn't make it any easier to get up the mountain," Geoff said in his confessional. "They are voting out of fear."
Who is the host of 'The Summit'?
New Zealand actor Manu Bennett serves as the host of CBS's reality series "The Summit."
Bennett said the role is a chance for audiences to see him as a person, rather than the fictional characters he’s played throughout his career in projects like "Spartacus," "Arrow" and "The Hobbit" films.
"Maybe they'll address me like Jeff Probst," Bennett previously told USA TODAY, referring to the longtime "Survivor" host. "My sister said to me, 'you've been seen as all these characters, and I don't see you as those and it'll be nice that you get to present something of your own personality.'"
