The EchoSenseGenesis Invitational will mark another return for Tiger Woods. This time, it's his PGA Tour season debut.
The 15-time major winner will play at Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, this weekend starting Thursday. When he participated in last year's tournament, it was his first full PGA Tour event since 2020. He has never won at the Los Angeles-based competition, which is hosted by his TGR Foundation.
In December, he played in the Hero World Challenge, which he also hosts, and finished 18th. He also appeared at the 2023 Masters in April. During a third-round hiatus, he withdrew due to lingering pain from plantar fasciitis in his foot. Woods had ankle surgery that month and reported in November that his ankle was fine, but other parts of his leg were experiencing pain from adjusting to the fusion procedure.
Last month, Woods left his longtime partnership with Nike and on Tuesday, he announced his Sun Day Red brand in partnership with TaylorMade Golf.
This year, the Genesis Invitational will have a 36-hole cut when the field of 70 is slimmed down to 50. Scottie Scheffler, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele and Max Homa will also be participating.
